The village of Ardovo is located in the district of Rožňava. The first written mention is from the first half of the 13th century. The village was founded by a royal gamekeeper's lodge on an older settlement.

History of the village
In the Middle Ages, there were lead mines. From the middle of the 16th century, the village was taxed by the Turks. In 1682 the village was devastated. The new colonization was not until 1740. In the past, the inhabitants were engaged in sheep breeding and burning coal. Between 1939 and 1945, Ardovo was annexed to Hungary.
