The forestry arboretum in Kysihýbl near Banská Štiavnica was founded to research the introduction and cultivation of foreign forest trees. It was founded in 1900-1913, immediately after the establishment of the Central Forestry Research Station (1898). Currently, this acclimatization facility is used for introduction research as well as genetic and breeding work. It also serves forestry practice as a valuable gene bank for the introduction of the most promising foreign trees.
