The greatest credit for the creation of the fountain goes to the former two-time mayor of Košice and later to the Slovak president Rudol Schuster, who liked a similar fountain during a visit to the former USSR in 1985.
The fountain responds and synchronizes to its own music, to a nearby chime and also to live music from the State Theater. In the evening, its splendor with water splashes is further enhanced by lighting in five colors. When playing music, the water spray and the colored lighting of the fountain are regulated based on the musical tones of the playing music. There are benches by the fountain in the park with trees.
In the immediate vicinity of the singing fountain is also the Košice carillon, which was built in 1997.
It was first heard during the celebrations of the Day of the City of Košice in 1997. It consists of 22 bells, which symbolize 22 city districts of the city of Košice. He has up to 99 melodies in his repertoire. The carillon plays a familiar tune every hour for the whole. The author of the carillon is the sculptor Peter Sceranka from Košice.
