The church was first mentioned in 1396 as a branch of the parish in Hegya. It was demolished in half. 18th century A late Baroque church was built in its place in the years 1758 - 1759 by Count Karol Esterházy, Bishop of Eger, on the basis of projects by the builder Jakub Fellner.

It is a monumental single-nave building with a round enclosure of the sanctuary, a sacristy built in and a tower built into the gable façade. The murals in the church are the work of painter Edmund Massányi. The side altar and benches are late Baroque from the end of the 18th century. with carved sidewalls. The Classicist pulpit and organ date from the 19th century. The main altar is from the end of the 19th century. Its central image is the image of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and on the sides are mounted statues of St. Stephen the King and St. Elizabeth of Hungary. The historic baptistery is from the beginning of the 20th century. The church is a cultural monument.
