It was declared protected in 1996 for its cultural, scientific, ecological, landscape and aesthetic significance. A black poplar with a trunk circumference of 560 centimeters, a height of 22 meters, a crown diameter of 12 meters and an age of 150 years. It grows on the eastern side of the canal embankment between the villages of Topoľníky and Dolný Štál.
