Although the construction of this majestic building began in 1778, it was not completed until 1793 by the master mason Peter Grossmann of Banská Bystrica. After devastating fires in April 1878 and July 1883, it was reconstructed and in 1907 according to the projects of the royal architect Ing. Imrich Légman, built on the next floor. Then it took on its current form. Now its premises serve mainly the District Office. In front of the County House there is a large space where life has always pulsated. In the past, Tuesday markets were held here, several times a year fairs, the city residents also welcomed guests - for example, President Beneš in 1936. Today, this area is the center of traditional city events of the Capital Days, St. Nicholas Fair, Swabian Fair, St. Nicholas Summer and many others.
