The old church no longer had enough capacity for believers. So the idea arose to build a new church. When Pope John Paul II visited Slovakia in 1990. consecrated the foundation stone of the new church, the construction began to be talked about aloud. Construction of the church began on July 4, 2004. The new Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was blessed on November 25, 2007 by Archbishop Ján Sokol of Trnava. The author-architect and designer was the architect Gabriel Zajíček. The co-author of the interior is the academic sculptor Dušan Králik.
