Although the Chapel does not belong to large villages, it has a rich history. The beginnings of the historic Kaplna date back to the fifth millennium BC, as evidenced by the archaeological finds of a Neolithic settlement in the village of Kaplna. The first written mention dates from 1244. It is a document issued on behalf of the Hungarian King Bel IV. The current name of the village is derived from the Latin CAPULNA (Kaplna, Kapln-ka), as the original name of the village, and over time has undergone some changes. Capolna (1289), Capella (1297), Kappeln (1460), Kaplna (1786), Hungarian Kápolna, German Kappeln.
