The history of the church and rectory in the village is also the history and image of life of the inhabitants of the village. The first mention of the village of Budmerice is from 1296. The then name of the village of Kerestúr comes from the phrase Kerest Úr from the Hungarian Cross of the Lord. To this day, the Roman Catholic Church in Budmerice is dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The church as such has never been demolished. It burned down several times, was rebuilt, repaired and expanded.
