The entrance portal was transferred to the southern wall and served until 1940 as the main entrance. The octagonal tower was built in the first half of the 16th century. It was finished with a copper helmet. The shrine and the nave were covered with shingles. As a result of artillery fire in In 1623 the church was badly damaged. Patron Ján Pálffy had it repaired. Three windows on the sanctuary were bricked up and the remaining two were turned into Romanesque. The destroyed Gothic altar replaced the Baroque one, which still exists.
