On the Košice bridge of love, the people of Košice can add their symbol of love from Valentine's Day in 2013. In the Košice newsroom: today we decided to count them all. And it wasn't easy at all. We have found that so far there are 2869 locks of various shapes on the bridge, even in the form of bicycle locks.
Similar bridges can be found in every major city, in Prague, Paris, New York, Salzburg or Moscow. However, many of them struggle with the intolerance of individual symbols of love. In Paris, for example, a favorite place for lovers, the locks had to be removed from the Pond des Arts bridge due to a serious threat to the bridge's statics.
The tradition of "locking love" probably dates back to China, where people also placed their "love locks" on the Great Wall of China. After locking, lovers should throw the key into the river. Since the river no longer flows under the Košice Bridge of Love, Košice lovers should find another solution.
