The river Váh often changed its course, and therefore Drahovce was affected by floods of catastrophic proportions. Among the biggest was the flood in 1773, during which the waves of Váh literally swept away the neighboring village of Baková. After its complete destruction, it was never restored, and its inhabitants settled in Drahovce. Now, in its place lies Lake Baková, which in the past was also used for gravel-sand mining. It is a popular place for fishermen, but also for picnics and recreation during hot summer days under the treetops.
