Basic info and arrival
The largest wooden maze in Slovakia is located in Liptov in close proximity to the Aquapark Tatralandia only 2 km from the center of Liptovský Mikuláš in the town of Ráztoky, on the north bank of the Liptovská Mara reservoir. It opened its gates at the end of August and can be found in the Liptoventure amusement park.
If you come by car, you can park directly in front of the amusement park. If you are in Tatralandia, then it is really a short distance and in less than 10 minutes you will come here on your own.
They are open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, and in addition to the maze, you will find off-road buggy rental and monster truck rides, an inflatable obstacle course and a small café with goodies such as waffles, pancakes and choco-kebabs.
Admission to the maze is 6 € for adults and a child under 120 cm pays 3 €. You can also pay by card. You can find out more about the entrance and opening hours directly on the theme park website.
The largest wooden maze in Slovakia - Labyrinth Liptov
The labyrinth in Liptov covers an area of 3,000 square meters and its diameter is 56 meters, which makes it one of the largest wooden mazes in the world. Currently, the labyrinth is registered in the Book of Slovak Records as the largest labyrinth made of wood, and in the future they would like to find themselves with the maze in the Guinness Book of Records.
In the middle of the maze is a two-storey turret overlooking the Liptovska Mara and the surrounding mountains. And among other things, it is a great landmark from which you can plan your way out. Of course, we climbed the turret and planned our way through the maze.
On average, the journey out takes 25 minutes and I can do it smarter in about 10 minutes. It took us exactly 11 minutes with the photo shoot. So we're probably smarter. So it was such fun for a few minutes.
Overall, it seemed like a lot of fun, especially if you come with children, but we were missing something. It felt unfinished. However, this should change in the future. They have big plans for the maze. It should be expanded by another 1,200 square meters next season and 3 more circles should be added.
It is also planned to place statues of clues in dead ends and various thematic events should take place there. For example, already in the autumn, a spooky night maze with live actors is being prepared on the occasion of Halloween. So we're going to have to go check to see if it's improved.
So if you are in Liptov with your children, it is a nice alternative to Sunday afternoon. Although we are already adults, it still seemed like a nice activity. Maybe I would consider reducing the entrance fee a bit. At least until it's all over.
