The village of Závod is located in the northern part of the Malacky district in the Bratislava region. The Porec stream, springing under Vysoká hôrka, flows through Chotárom. The Grgás stream flows in the eastern part of the area. Climatically, the Plant belongs to the type of landscape with a lowland climate, with a slight inversion of temperatures. The vegetation cover consists of forests, remnants of native meadows and agricultural culture. The Abrod National Nature Reserve, together with the eastern wooded part of the area of the Závod municipality, is part of the Záhorie Protected Landscape Area with a total area of 27,522 ha.

The village of Závod is located in the central part of the Borská lowland and the area is formed mainly by Young Tertiary clays and sands. This part of Záhorie has long been thought to have been uninhabited or settled only sporadically in the earliest times. The first discovery on the territory of the Plant came in 1888. An ashtray tomb from the Late Roman period was found, specifically from the second half of the 2nd century and the beginning of the 3rd century AD The oldest traces of settlement so far come from the end of the Stone Age, Eneolithic, already relatively continuous settlement.
