The village is located in the district of Brezno and lies on the southern slope of the central part of the Low Tatras in the valley of the Štiavnička stream. In the north and east it borders the village with the cadastre of the town of Brezno, in the south with the village of Valaská and in the west with the village of Bystrá.

The area offers various opportunities for walks, more and less demanding ascents and pleasant walks in nature. You can ascend to Ďumbier and Chopok, to the low-Tatra ridges of Veľký Gápľ and Malý Gápľ. Below the hill Šánske is again the most flat part of the whole area - Pohánske. In the Štiavnička valley is a mineral spring with an increased iron content. From the historical monuments, visitors can see the Evangelical Church, built in the years 1822 - 1826, the Roman Catholic Church of St. Matúš from 1840, a chapel on Pohánské and kováčská vyhná, built at the beginning of the 20th century. The village of Mýto pod Ďumbierom is an important ski resort.
