The village of Jarabá

The striking mountain village is located at the southern foot of the Low Tatras in the deep valley of the Štiavnička stream. Only 38 inhabitants. This number makes the village of Jarabá the smallest village in Horehronie.

There are three mineral springs in the village and its districts. They lie in radial volcanic cracks like the remnants of former hot springs from the Neogene period. Jarabá is the origin of a mining and metallurgical village with a rich tradition, probably dating back to 1271. Gold and silver were mined here. Today Jarabá is a popular tourist destination and connects to the tourist area Čertovica - Chopok-south.
