The village is located on the Banská Bystrica side of Podpoľany and there is our biggest beast. Even one of the local hills is called Medvedinec. However, the area is full of interesting natural phenomena, which are unique in Europe. For example, the 14-meter-high Bátovský boulder or the Jánošíkova skala volcanic cliff. After all, Poľana itself is one of the youngest, but also the largest volcanic craters in Europe. The history of three hippo bells is interesting. After the fire in 1783, the village remained without a bell for a whole year. It took 23 years for their number to be added. The first year after the fire, the second six years and the third in 1806. All three rang in the summer of 1847, when a new administrator arrived at the rectory - Andrej Braxatoris Sládkovič.
