The first written mention of modern settlement appeared in 1256. It received its current form in 1942, when the villages of Marcelová and Krátke Kesy merged. Among the important monuments in the village is the Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist, the Classicist church of the Reformed Church and also the sculpture of St. Anny, statue of St. Florián and the chapel in the former Pál ff yovcov park, standing above the spring, to which they attributed miraculous effects in the past. There is a nature reserve Marcelovské piesky and a historical park, declared a protected area. Today, Marcelová lives a rich social life. Singing and dancing ensembles, football players and table tennis players work actively. There are fishermen, hunters, volunteer firefighters, historical archers, scouts and members of the CSEMADOK association. Order of the Knights of Prince St. Imricha organizes a wine competition here every year.
