History
The monument was built in honor of the conclusion of the Peace of Žitav. The Peace of Zittau was a peace treaty concluded on November 11, 1606 between the Ottoman Empire and the Habsburg Monarchy. The peace is named after the river Žitava, at the mouth of which the treaty was signed, in the place of the present-day village of Radvaň nad Dunajom. The Peace of Žitav ended the fifteen-year war with the Turks and at the same time the anti-Habsburg uprising of Štefan Bočkaj.
