The village is documented from 1367 as Machhaza, from 1441 as Keethmaczhaza, from 1773 as Maczhaza, from 1927 as Macov, Hungarian Macháza, German Matzhausen. The village belonged to Bratislava Castle, later to the Bratislava estate within the district in Holice. In 1440, Queen Elizabeth donated the village to Ondrej Bittó.

The village of Macov

The village is documented from 1367 as Machhaza, from 1441 as Keethmaczhaza, from 1773 as Maczhaza, from 1927 as Macov, Hungarian Macháza, German Matzhausen. The village belonged to Bratislava Castle, later to the Bratislava estate within the district in Holice. In 1440, Queen Elizabeth donated the village to Ondrej Bittó.

In 1441, the Rozgonyi also owned property in the village. Members of the Bessenyő family also acquired property here in the 15th century. In the 16th century, Maczháza is again listed as a royal property. In 1574, 4 serf families lived in the village, in 1715 it had 3 taxpayers, and in 1828 there were 79 houses in the village and 64 inhabitants lived there. They were mainly engaged in agriculture. Its other owners were members of the Pálffy family, who kept their property here until the 20th century.
After the First World War, as part of the land reform in the district, a colony was formed on the confiscated Pálffy estates, where 26 families settled. The Slovak name of the village Macov began to be used in 1927. In 1938 there lived 14 Moravian, 3 Czech, 2 Slovak and 7 Hungarian families. During the Second World War, in the period 1938 - 1945, the village was annexed to Hungary.
In 1976, the village was annexed to the village of Trnávka. It became independent again in 1990 and since then it has had its own self-government. The ethnic composition of Macov remained diverse, as Slovaks, Hungarians and Czechs live here. At the 2011 census, 25 citizens declared their Czech nationality.
