In the village there is a slight hill made of barren loess, on which a castle with a church was built in ancient times. The function of the castle was protective. Not a trace of the original castle remained, but at the beginning of this century, the remains of walls that could be destroyed over time were still visible. The castle was surrounded on the east by the waters of the Váh, from the north by the Chtelnička stream and from the west by a deep moat filled with water. He occupied the whole hill, on which there is a church with a cemetery and a part of the former village of Zákostoľany. Under the hill from the north side, cellars are still excavated, the origin of which is much speculated.
