Tematín Castle is first mentioned in documents in 1347 when King Louis I donated it to the ancestor of the Ujlaki family - Vavrinec Tót of Raholec, a Nitra, Wallachian and Sopron county. In 1524, the castle was acquired by the Thurz family from Betlanoviec - the governor Alexius (Alexej) Thurzo by the royal donation of King Louis II. Jagellonskéhov. It was a part of a large property donation, which was acquired by the indebted estate Červený Kameň and together with it the castle estates Hlohovec, Šintava and Tematín.
After the extinction of the Hungarian magnate family Thurzovci in the male line in 1638, the entire Moravian manor Tematín and the Richnav castle manor were acquired by important Moravian nobles Ján and Ondrej Rottalovci, Július Fitter and his wife, František Šándor and his wife Katarína Rottalová, later the owners changed the owners Čákiovci, Beréniovci, and later a quarter also Berčéniovci known mainly to Mikuláš - one of the generals of the estate uprisings of Francis II. Rákóci, who was allegedly born in the castle. After the suppression of the uprising and the prosecution of Nicholas, the castle was damaged by imperial troops in 1710. Nevertheless, some parts of it continued to serve, as evidenced by documents from 1716. In 1721 is the last written report - a list of castle property. It says that there is nothing together in the castle and he is no longer guarded by the crew.
