Vrch Zárby

The highest peak of the West Slovak mountain range Malá Karpaty is the Záruba hill rising to a height of 768 m above sea level.

This hill is also the center of the eponymous national nature reserve, which was declared for the protection of local rare rock communities and deciduous Carpathian forests. Thanks to the limestone subsoil, the reservation is rich in interesting and often quite rare species of lime-loving plants.

The starting point for the tours to the Záruba hill are mostly Smolenice, directly from the village center there are four hiking trails. The visitor has the opportunity to choose whether to go around Smolenický chateau, the Drina cave or the Hlbočianská valley.
