The Igar winery is located in Modrany, that is, in a village whose wine was praised by the Hungarian king Sigismund of Luxemburg already 600 years ago.
From the Danube lowland, the mild slopes of the South Slovak wine region, richly endowed with the sun, rise here. It is an ideal environment for growing vines.
The Agropark Modrany company, which owns the Víno Igar brand, has been producing dry white, rose and red wines here since 2012 on 20 hectares of its own vineyards from the varieties Riesling Vlašský, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Devín, Yellow Muscat, Alibernet, Danube, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Roesler, Dornfelder and Čierne Otelo. Wine at Igara is basically made only from their own grapes, that is, with a guarantee of protected origin.
In addition to classic varietal wines, the pride of Igar Wines is also the Maximianus and Barbaricum cuvees, which are based on Austrian and German nouveau nobles, respectively. "barbarian natives", interspecific hybrids of European and American vines.
Winery Igar offers guests not only the opportunity to organize tastings not only of great wine, but also to taste the delicacies of excellent local Hungarian cuisine.
