Until 1874, children from Varašúr went to school in Šúrovce. In 1874, the parish priest of Šúrov bought a burned-out peasant house, had it repaired and furnished with contributions from the village. He blessed the school on October 25, 1877. A new classroom was built in 1908. It was a Roman Catholic folk school. After 1945, the school was nationalized. The school taught until the 1976/1977 school year.
