The upper reservoir in the shape of an irregular quadrangle is located between the valleys of Biele and Čierne Váh. Its useful volume is 3.7 million. m3, the water level in the reservoir fluctuates within 25 m. The Čierny Váh pumped water power plant consists of four main groups of objects: the upper reservoir, the lower reservoir, feeders and the power plant. It is located in the protection zone of the Low Tatras National Park. Construction took place between 1976 and 1983.
