Time seemed to stand still in Vlkolínec. Everything here is preserved almost in the same form as it was in the middle of the last century. The uniqueness of Vlkolínec is also that several permanent residents still live in this wooden settlement.
Vlkolínec offers its visitors a lot of interesting things. In addition to a tour of the settlement itself, which with its preservation represents a traditional mountain settlement of Slovakia, you can visit other exhibits, such as the Farmhouse and yard with an exposition of traditional living and life in Vlkolínec, UNESCO House Vlkolínec, Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, a hut with traditional equipment, a mini-gallery with with the works of artists and a private exhibition at the Gallery of Folk Art.
The surroundings of the settlement offer the opportunity to tour typical foothill meadows with many haylofts (stables). Its location at the foot of the Sidorovo hill offers possibilities for a trip or a walk with views of the surroundings. The location also has a number of springs and geologically interesting locations, such as the rock needle Krkavá skala, or the travertine terrace Vlčia skala and others.
