1976 - The beginning of the adventure
The first Decathlon store was opened on July 26, 1976 in the Englos shopping area near Lille in France with the vision of making sport and its benefits available to as many people as possible!

The first store outside France was the store in Dortmund (Germany).

The first product designed by Decathlon was the Challenger bicycle frame.
- 1996 - Decathlon "Passion Brands"
The story of our brands began in 1996 with the creation of the Quechua and Tribord brands.
- 2006 - Decathlon "Passion Brands"
This was followed by the creation of other strategic brands Artengo, Wed'ze, Solognac and Kalenji for lovers of racket sports, skiing, hunting and running.
- 2015 - Decathlon Slovakia
Decathlon came to Slovakia in 2015 with the opening of the Decathlon Bory store.
