Banskobystrica Region Tourism
In December 2018, the Banskobystrica self-governing region and six regional tourism organizations (OOCR Central Slovakia, OOCR Región Banská Štiavnica, OOCR Dudince, OOCR Horehronie, OOCR Gron, OOCR Turistický Novohrad a Podpoľanie) joined together and founded the Regional Tourism Organization Banskobystrica Region Turizmus, the goal which is to support and create conditions for the development of tourism in the region. The regional tourism organization Banskobystrický kraj Turizmus thus became the official marketing headquarters for tourist destinations and tourism products in the region under the new brand Za horami za dolami.
The Za horami za dolami brand covers the communication of eight tourist destinations, highlighting interesting experiences, local products and characteristic customs and traditions. The new communication identity is inspired by the embroidery on the Detvian costume and is based on modern trends in storytelling and their authenticity. The story-telling art of Pavel Dobšinský, who worked at Gemeri, became the ideological motive.
Part of the new communication identity also includes the stories of sixteen ambassadors from specific tourist destinations who represent traditions and customs, are saviors of cultural heritage, or farmers and producers of regional products, and who are supposed to attract more tourists to the region and support the development of local production.
