After the childless uncle Jozef, the Smolenice landowner Jozef Pálffy also acquired the Dobrovodské manor. In 1911, he began the reconstruction of the ruins of the medieval castle in Smolenice into a magnificent family seat. He was a good housekeeper. In an effort to make use of the wealth of its own forests, in addition to the existing sawmill in Lošonec, he also built another chemical factory near Dechtice and in the Horné Orešany district. Construction began in 1880, about 1883 began production, based on dry distillation of beech wood. He was the sole owner of the factory, in the period 1888-1901 co-owner. After his death, she was taken over by his son Jozef. In 1901, another Pállfy chemical plant near Dobra Voda started production. He is buried in the Smolenice cemetery in a funeral chapel, which he had built.
