History
Juraj Fándly was born in Častá, but his parents moved to Doliany in his early childhood. However, he grew up in Doľany (Ompitáli), where his parents moved in his early childhood. Despite his education in monasteries, he was influenced by the Enlightenment ideas of Joseph II. and in 1789 his work The Confidential Covenant between the Monk and the Devil denounced religious life. In 1776 he was ordained a priest and spent the most prolific part of his life as a pastor in Naháč (1780-1807).

Fandly's Monument - Common

The monument to Juraj Fándly was commissioned in October 1967 by the village of Častá near his presumed residence in Častá. The monument reads:

TO THE WRITER, FRUIT AND BEEKEEPER

CITIZENS OF ČASTÁ MUNICIPALITY
