Military headquarters building

By strengthening the function of Košice as a garrison town, the question of how to replace the unsatisfactory "command house" arose at the end of the 19th century. The decision to build the building of the new military headquarters was supported by the city by donating land on the then Franz Jozef Square in the vicinity of the barracks of the same name. The ideas of the army were most suited to the project study of the Budapest builder Jozef Kauser prepared in 1900-1904.

The construction was taken over by Eugen Halmos in 1906, who then leased the building to the army. Construction work progressed successfully and on November 13, 1908, the building was approved. The building housed the army until 1998, currently this part of the building is under reconstruction and has passed to the city administration. The southern part of the building serves the needs of the East Slovak Museum.
