History of the village
In the village there is an evangelical classicist church from the end of the 18th century, in which there is a coffered hand-painted wooden ceiling with late Renaissance baroque-rustic ornamentation of stylized flowers and leaves. The organ with arcade ornamentation dates from 1739, the classicist bell tower with retarded elements is from the end of the 18th century. The bell is cast by B. Stephanides of Lučenec in 1813.
The first settlement in the area around the village Babinec comes from the late Bronze Age. Finds from one of the cultures of this period are located near the neighboring village of Kyjatice. The current settlement of the village Babinec originated during the 13th century. The first historical mention of the present village comes from 1407 (1407 Babalawka, 1413 Babaluchka, 1427 Babafalva). In the 17th century, the village belonged to the aristocratic families Derencsényi and Szécha, from the 17th century to the Murano Muran estate. In 1427, there were 13 settlers in the village, of which only five houses remained after the Turkish devastation in 1598. In 1828, the village of Babinec had 270 inhabitants in 35 houses.
