The school was founded in 1954 as an eleven-year high school. From September 1, 1970, it operated under the name of the Grammar School with Hungarian as the language of instruction in Šamorín. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its establishment, the grammar school was awarded the honorary name of the Imre Madách Grammar School. The founder of the school is the Trnava self-governing region. The school building is located in a pleasant environment on the outskirts of the city.
