The libraries in Jarovce, Rusovce and Čuňov were also part of the then organizational structure of this district library. The current name of the Petržalka Local Library was adopted by a resolution of the Petržalka Local Council in 1991. At the same time, its basic documents, the Charter and the Statute, were approved. Organizationally, the Petržalka Local Library is divided into ten branches serving children, youth and adults. One of the branches has a special scientific and professional focus.
As a universal public library with a local scope, it primarily satisfies the cultural, educational and leisure needs of the inhabitants of the city district, offers a safe environment for obtaining information and creates conditions for obtaining and making information available to the general public in all areas of life. The branches are located evenly throughout Petržalka and are available to the public in each of its locations. Today, the library fund consists of over 230,000 titles and is supplemented and updated annually by an average of 6,000 titles. Every year, the library provides its readers and visitors with an average of 60 types of periodicals. In addition to books, we offer rental of e-books and electronic readers. Rental services are fully automated, public internet and wifi zones are available at all branches. The Petržalka Library does not forget to revitalize and modernize the premises so that they meet the conditions for a modern and high-quality environment with rest areas.
