Within the Trenčín self-governing region, the library coordinates and advises other regional libraries, provides tasks related to bibliographic registration and coordination of bibliographic activities, provides tasks related to documenting the status and development of library and information services to the public through the library system. The founder of the library is the Trenčín self-governing region.
The library fund of the Public Library of Michal Rešetka contains approx. volumes of books and special documents (audiovisual, electronic), 280 titles of periodicals and regional documents.
The library is open 65 hours a week, providing services daily except Sundays. In addition to library and information services in accordance with its focus and specialization, it also provides Internet access for the public, organizes a number of cultural and social events to introduce the general public to writers and other important personalities of the Trenčín region, educational events for children and youth and acts as a community center. .
Within its local and regional scope, the library fulfills its educational, information and cultural mission, ensures free access to information and participates in the lifelong learning of its users and visitors.
The library offers its users library and information services in accordance with the focus and specialization of the regional library with regional competence:

The fund of educational literature has a balanced representation of individual scientific disciplines, the reader can find both popular-scientific works and study material for school needs or scientific interests. The books are arranged according to individual scientific disciplines (International Decimal Classification) in free choice. Readers of computers with an electronic catalog are used to search for literature.
On the ground floor of the central building there is a workplace of beautiful literature (fiction), which offers those interested in art literature in the form of free access to the book collection. The collection of beautiful literature is stored alphabetically according to the author's name. Genres of poetry, plays, detective literature and foreign language literature are excluded from the collection.
The general study room provides professional literature for full-time study. Thirteen study places serve registered readers, but also other interested parties after paying a one-time fee of € 1.
The multimedia study room located on the floor of the central building provides access to information technology for library visitors. Study room services are charged according to the price list of services.
In the multimedia study room, visitors have at their disposal:
- 3 PCs with internet access
- printer
- CD / DVD for viewing (encyclopedias, supplements to professional journals, teaching, language, travel)
- Encyclopedias, manuals, language dictionaries
- Scanning documents from library collections
If readers do not find the required information in the books, the staff of the multimedia study room will advise you on how to search for it in the electronic media. The searched information can be printed or uploaded to an electronic medium purchased in a multimedia study room.
