City gallery
The Municipal Cultural Center in Humenné, with the support of the Club of Friends of Culture, made a proposal for the establishment of a gallery, which was approved by the Municipal Council in Humenné by Resolution no. 134 of 27 April 2004. Resolution no. 283 of 21 June 2005, the establishment of the Humenné City Gallery and the Gallery Statute were approved.
In accordance with Act no. 115/1998 as amended, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic registered the Humenné City Gallery under registration number 26/2005 on 30.09.2005. The founder of the gallery is the City of Humenné and the gallery is part of the Municipal Cultural Center.
From a professional point of view, the Humenné City Gallery is a gallery with comprehensive gallery documentation, focusing on the work of authors from the Upper Zemplín region and on the work of non-professional and insit artists.
Everyone is welcome at the opening. Exhibitions of works are open to the public free of charge during working days from 7.30 am to 3.00 pm. and in the evening during events organized by the Municipal Cultural Center. Every year, the gallery prepares 8-11 exhibitions for art lovers. We organize an international plein air called Hornozemplínske impresie every year with the financial support of the City of Humenné and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. We are thus deepening cooperation in the field of art with neighboring countries. The created works enrich the gallery's collection. The works of art are made available to the public in the form of exhibitions, and the result of the carving open-airs is an opportunity for the citizens of the city and visitors to see through Bethlehem every year during the most beautiful holidays of the year.
