Spišské divadlo (abbreviated as SD) is a professional drama theater operating in the Spiš region, which was established in 1957. Its founder is the Košice self-governing region. The Reduta building in Spišská Nová Ves became the seat, where it is still located today. The theater works in a classical repertoire way with a permanent artistic ensemble. It offers mainly drama for adults, but also places great emphasis on creating fairy tales for children. The Spiš Theater also has a rich touring activity, especially in the Spiš region.
The Spiš Theater has been preparing the Divadelný Spiš theater festival every year since 2009. It has been held for nine years and its deadline is usually the end of October. It lasts less than a week and, in addition to productions by the Spiš Theater, it will also present performances of other theaters to local audiences and the theatrical society. Their most frequent guests are the State Theater in Košice, the Jozef Gregor Tajovský Theater, the Ján Palárik Theater, the Slovak Chamber Theater and some Czech theaters.
