History
Christ the King Church in Prešov in the Sekčov estate is a Slovak Roman Catholic parish church. The church is located on the spacious Náměstí Krista Kráľa. Five radiating paths lead to the church, which are supposed to symbolize the center of the settlement and refer to the symbolism of the saying "All roads lead to Rome.". From the outside, its roof creates the impression of a Latin cross, or a dove or a chalice with a host. For reasons of symbolism and functionality, the bell tower is located on the hill behind the church, so it is not part of the church building.

Statue of Jesus Christ

The church is dominated by a more than two-meter brass statue of Christ the King, which is placed above the chair. The statue of Christ has enlarged blessing hands. It was created by a sculptor from Pezinok, Mgr. arch. Štefan Kollár, who is also the author of the baptismal font.

Statue of the Virgin Mary

The statue belonged to the sisters of the Congregatio Jesu order. In 1938, the sisters had to leave their school and moved the house and the statue to the neighboring church of the Virgin Mary. The church in which the statue was placed during the Second World War was bombed, but nothing happened to the statue of the Virgin Mary and it remained undamaged. In 1965, the sisters restored the school and the statue returned to their chapel.
