Historical cemetery - Dolný Kubín

The roots of the historic cemetery in Dolný Kubín go back to 1866, when they buried Leopold Bruck, an Orava poet and a leading member of the Orava Educational Society. Since then, many other Orava historians have found a place of their last rest here, who have significantly affected the cultural life in Slovakia.

For all of them we can mention the leading novelist Ladislav Nádaši-Jégý, the author of the novels Adam Šangal or Alina Oságová, the poet Janek Matúška, the author of the text of the Slovak anthem, and of course the most famous native of Orava, Pavel Országh Hviezdoslav. Dolnokubín's historic cemetery is an integral part of the historic city center, located on Aleja Slobody Street.
