History
On Thursday, October 6, 2022, the Memorial Room of Juraj Palkovič was ceremonially opened in his parents' house. Juraj Palkovič, a great patron of Slovak literature, translator and publisher, spent part of his childhood in this house and returned here as an adult. During his life he held high church ranks, was a canon, archdeacon and from 1825 the provost of St. Stephen's in Ostrichom, where he also died on 21 January 1835.

On Thursday, October 6, 2022, the Memorial Room of Juraj Palkovič was ceremonially opened in his parents' house. Juraj Palkovič, a great patron of Slovak literature, translator and publisher, spent part of his childhood in this house and returned here as an adult. During his life he held high church ranks, was a canon, archdeacon and from 1825 the provost of St. Stephen's in Ostrichom, where he also died on 21 January 1835.

As a generous patron, Palkovič supported many Slovak writers, for example, he published the works of the poet J. Hollé Rozľicné básňe, Aeneid, Svatopluk and Cirillo-Metodiad. His life's work is the translation of the entire Bible into Bernolák Slovak, which he self-published in two volumes in 1829 and 1832. It is the first book-published translation of the Bible in Slovak!
