Statue of the Virgin Mary- Pavlice

Statue of a saint on a pedestal, bearing the text: "Mary conceived without blemish, pray for us. Mary, to whom Jesus was born who is called Christ."

The term "Mother of God" in Sv. it is not found in the scriptures, but in several places it is written of the Virgin Mary as the one who gave birth to the Son of God. The name Bohorodička can be found in the 3rd century in the writings of St. Fathers as in St. Gregor Nazianzski, St. Gregor Nyssenski, St. Cyril of Alexandria, St. Ignatius of Antioch and others. As a dogma, that is, as an article of faith, this mystery was proclaimed at the ecclesiastical assembly (council) in Ephesus in 431 and later in Constantinople in 555. The Council's fathers in Ephesus adopted a resolution that the Virgin Mary is a Mother of God (Greek Theotókos) and that in Christ's two natures are united - divine and human. At the same time, they condemned the delusion of the Patriarch of Stariari Nestorius, who proclaimed that the Virgin Mary was the mother of Christ as man, not God.

In the womb of the Virgin Mary, the human body of Jesus developed according to biological laws. It was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Well, we know that the Son of God has lived since eternity as the second person of God. This Son of God took the human body from the Virgin Mary and became a man. The Virgin Mary is a Mother of God and Jesus Christ is a God-Man. The Virgin Mary therefore provided him with a human body. In the Christological interpretation of the Psalms, we encounter the Virgin Mary, poetically described as the Holy City (Zion), which has a noble Inhabitant (e.g., Ps 48, 87, 132, and others). The Lord Jesus really lived with her nine months before she was born so that He could come into the world as a man.

The Second Vatican Council also paid great attention to the Virgin Mary. The whole VIII. the chapter of the main doctrinal constitution speaks of it. The Council affirmed the teachings made so far and encourages all to have greater respect for the one that brought God himself into the world. God came into the world through her, and we also get to God most easily through her. We call her the Queen of the Universe, the Queen of Angels, and she has many other attributes. From this it can be seen that God himself embraces her with a special favor, and her intercession is indeed a powerful prayer that can ask for great graces. Many famous Marian devotions, such as the rosary, litany, supper and the like, take place in vain. All this is a practical expression of the old Latin sentence "Per Mariam ad Iesum" (via Mary to Jesus).
