A stone statue built on the number of St. Ján Nepomúcký, patron of the Czech Republic, confessional secret, water and flood protector. John of Nepomuk became a saint mainly due to his martyrdom. He died after a long torture, to which he was subjected by the then Czech King Wenceslas IV. According to one legend, the king tortured and murdered him for refusing to divulge the Queen's confessional secret. According to the second, it was revenge for undermining Wenceslas' power intrigues.
