The first film screenings were initially held in other buildings than at present. Already in those times, the phenomenon of attending film screenings increasingly became one of the most popular activities for the use of leisure time by the inhabitants of Handlová. Proof of this was the huge number of visitors to each film performance. At one time, it was shown in three cinemas on the territory of our city. The cinema in Handlová also had a long tradition of screening fairy tales for children, which were very popular at the time. Also due to the above facts, due to the growing interest of residents not only in cinema, but also in culture, those responsible at the time quickly understood the importance and significance of building a comprehensive cultural facility.
In the thirty years since the opening of our House of Culture, the projection technology has been modernized several times, most recently in 1996 with the purchase of MEO 5X projection machines, unfortunately the listening mono equipment has not been modernized until now. In 1992, the seats in the cinema were completely replaced with new wooden ones with fabric upholstery. The last modernization, which temporarily averted the demise of cinema in our city, took place about six years ago and involved the replacement of the classic analog sound reader with laser sound readers on both projectors.
